In remembrance of the devastating tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011,  gratitude is being shown through a fundraising effort in Dayton, Ohio.

It's been nearly 50 years since the Wilderness Act was passed.

The Nature Conservancy is celebrating the planet we live on, the food it provides, the people we share it with and remembering that in order for the earth to provide food and water that people and nature need, we have to take care of it.

The Fernald Preserve Visitors Center is a 10,000 square-foot green building that celebrates the rich and varied history of the Fernald site.Information on the site's natural, Native American, settlement and farming, uranium production and environmental clean-up eras as well as the recent ecological restoration and legacy management mission is presented through a series of exhibits.  Admission to the Visitors Center is free. The Fernald Community Alliance is asking for  volunteers to assist with the clean-up of Paddy's Run Road adjacent to the Fernald Preserve on April 6th.   Dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring rain gear, just in case. Volunteers will meet at the Fernald Visitors Center at 8:30 am for a safety briefing, pick up safety gear (gloves, vests and trash bags) and road clean-up assignments.  All work should be completed by noon.  For more information, please visit the website.
