And they’re each deft instrumentalists, and they’ve spent years playing in others’ bands before coming together as a unit. They’re bound by music and an uncommon depth of companionship, they’re good enough to make Steve Earle swoon, and all of that sounds quite nice.

Roaring out of the southern Indiana foothills comes Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band playing a brand of Americana and Blues that stands alone – Delta blues and hillbilly fervor combine with musical acuity sharp as razor wire – best know, this trio is a force to be reckoned with.

Ellery is husband‐wife band Tasha and Justin Golden, who went from friends to engaged in 4 fast days. That was over 8 years ago, and their music reflects the kind of emotional sensitivity & confidence that would turn a moment of spontaneity into some kind of indie‐rock fairytale.

Led by singer-songwriter Scott Terry, Red Wanting Blue is proudly based in Columbus, Ohio, but could be America’s local band. For years, the group has gone about logging thousands of miles on the road throughout the nation’s heartland, making fans the hard way – one at a time.

“When I was a teenager,” Madi Diaz recalls, “my dad and I would hang out in the living room and learn songs by bands like the Eagles and Alice in Chains. We’d pick parts to harmonize and sing our way through them, over and over.

The P l e a s e, P l e a s e  M e is an indie pop trio from Austin, Texas with a few tricks up its sleeve.  They'll be performing at the next Studio 89 on Monday, October 29th at 7pm.

Featuring two drummers who left New York City to chase their musical dreams, the Please, Please Me is ”poetry you can dance to.” Frontwoman Jessie Torrisi beckons with her sultry voice one moment and duels with Agustin Frederic on the tom toms the next. The cream in the cookie is cellist Alissa Schram, and her army of sound effects.

It's not often we have a friend and neighbor from Northern Kentucky who goes on to get signed by Sub Pop Records.  Daniel Martin Moore is a singer and songwriter from just down the road from the WNKU studios in Cold Spring, Kentucky. 

Eleni Mandell has been making records since 2000.  Growing up in Los Angeles in the 1980s, Mandell attended mostly punk and underground rock shows but was inspired as a young songwriter by Tom Waits, X, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Randy Newman.
