CPS Offers All-Schools Information Event Next Week

Next Thursday, at the Cintas Center on the Xavier University campus, the Cincinnati Public Schools will offer its first-ever, one-stop shopping event for enrollment information. The event runs from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. It's called the All Schools Showcase. Dawn Grady is Manager of Marketing and Community Relations for the school district.  She talked about the Showcase with WNKU's Steve Hirschberg.

MCOFuture Continues Forums on Ways to Improve Montgomery County

Tomorrow evening- Tuesday, September 11- the Montgomery County Commissioners are  holding the latest in a series of public forums on an initiative called MCOFuture.  It's an initiative to find ways to make the county more successful. The forum takes place, starting at 5:00 p.m., at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. WNKU's Steve Hirschberg asked County Commissioner Debbie Lieberman how the forums got started.

Math is a Factor in Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Table Game Dealer Jobs

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati will be the last of four voter –approved casinos to open in Ohio. The Cincinnati Casino scheduled to open in spring of 2013 kicked off  it’s first round of recruiting efforts last month and people interested in  dealer positions have until September 16th to apply .

Ohio's New Ban on Texting While Driving Begins Today

Ohio's new ban on texting while driving goes into effect, today. According to a recent survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, 35% of motorists of all ages admit that they text while driving; and nearly half of 18-24-year-old drivers say they text while behind the wheel. AAA spokeswoman Cheryl Parker explains the new law to WNKU's Steve Hirschberg.

This week marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Richmond in Madison County, Kentucky, south of Lexington. WNKU's Steve Hirschberg talked about the battle with Civil War  historian Dr. James Ramage, Regents Professor of History at Northern Kentucky University.
