Kentucky Brewgrass Trail Celebrates Growing Microbrewery Business

When you think of adult beverages made or mixed in Kentucky, you naturally think of Bourbon and, perhaps, Mint Juleps.  But now The Bluegrass State is starting to produce its own locally-crafted beers.  In fact, there is even a new website for beer-loving tourists.  It's called The Brewgrass Trail.  In this Postcard story, WNKU's Steve Hirschberg talked about the burgeoning breweries with Adam Johnson.  He is Executive Director of the Danville/Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

NKU Partners in New Children's Law Clinic in Covington

The non-profit Children's Law Center in Covington has just teamed up with Northern Kentucky University's Chase College of Law to start a clinic designed to help young clients who need legal services.  The clinic will also help NKU law students hone their skills and get real-world experience in their chosen profession. WNKU's Steve Hirschberg talked with Professor Amy Halbrook, the Director of the new clinic.

MashComm36 Will Help Businesses and Provide Experieince for Students

Businesses and non-profits looking for help finding solutions for PR and communication technology issues will be getting some assistance from NKU students. The College of Informatics and Communication Department will be hosting MashComm-36. Professor Zach Hart says student teams will work with area partners to design strategies and integrate technology to solve existing problems. WNKU’s Matt Kelley visited with Dr. Hart to find out how the program will work.

Songwriters Seminar This Weekend in Greenup, KY

 This weekend, modern country music composer Rick Ferrell, a Scioto County native, will be the featured artist in the first-ever songwriters seminar at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in Greenup, Kentucky.  The park is located across the Ohio River from Scioto County and the city of Portsmouth. Anne Stephens is a University of Kentucky Extension Agent for Fine Arts in Greenup County. WNKU's Steve Hirschberg asked Stephens what the seminar is all about.

Museum Center Receives Artifacts From The Banks Construction Site

The Cincinnati Museum Center has given reporters a glimpse at artifacts uncovered when excavators began work on The Banks development on the city's central riverfront. The items were found in what used to be the basements of homes near the 19th century public landing. WNKU's Steve Hirschberg talked about the finds with Bob Genheimer, the Museum Center's Curator of Archeology.
