The Gorman Heritage Farm Saturday Summer Farm Kids program offers kids ages 12-16 the opportunity to have hands on learning experiences on an educational working farm.  One hundred years ago most kids grew up on farms and had a closer relationship to the food they ate.  Gorman Heritage Farm gives kids the opportunity to access a modern working farm and develop a new and deeper relationship with local food and agriculture.

Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers to carry out their mission. Volunteers are needed to help with everything from construction to the ReStore to Family Services. Through volunteer mlabor and donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside homeowner partner families. Be a part of the EPA's Clean Water Act 40th Anniversary Video Project by telling them "What Water Is Worth" to you! As part of the celebration, the EPA is hosting a video project asking Americans to send in a 15 second video clip explaining the important role that water plays in their lives. The EPA will feature sel;ected videos on it's website and the "What Water Is Worth" Facebook page. Videos will be accepted through September 14th, 2012. The Hamilton County Park District is proud to be a part of a unique celebration taking place until September 30th. The Taft Museum of Art is celebrating 80- years of excellence with a special event called Art For All, a public art program that features 80 reproductions of works from the museum collection placed throughout Greater Cincinnati, including six Hamilton County Parks. Reproductions can be found in locations such as the Cincinnati Zoo, Devou Park, the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky International Airport and many other places.

Earth Calendar for May 30th and 31st

Cincinnati Nature Center will host the building dedication of the new Alpaugh Early Education Center on Sunday, June 10th, at 3:00 pm, followed by an open house at their Rowe Woods location in Milford, Ohio. This building will serve as CNC's new, fully licensed, nature-based preschool for children ages 3-5. Opening in September, this is the first preschool to be managed by a nature center in the Greater Cincinnati area. The program's goal is to meet the developmental need of the whole child by initiating a life-long, meaningful relationship with the natural world.

Wetlands support diverse fish and wildlife species, filter pollutants from rainwater runoff, help recharge groundwater supplies, prevent flooding and enhance property value. Despite their benefits, the United States loses about 60,000 acres of wetlands each year. Development that occurs on or nearby wetlands can lead to loss of habitat, changes in water flow, pollution runoff, and other impacts.

Earth Calendar for May 25th and 26th

The US Environmental Protection Agency is launching a new design competition called the Campus RainWorks Challenge to encourage student teams on college and university campuses across the country to develop innovative approaches to stormwater management. The competition will help raise awareness of green design and planning approaches and help train the next generation of landscape architects, planners and engineers in green infrastructure, principles and design. Registration opens September 4th and entries must be submitted by December 14th, 2012 for consideration.

Ohioans who have questions - on everything from agricultural enterprise budgets, gardening, crop production, nutrition, producing fruits and vegetables - have a new way to find answers. County websites of Ohio State University Extension now have an "Ask A County Expert" tool where Ohioans can ask questions related to the educational programs Extension offers. Programs offered encompass four areas: agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, community development and 4-H youth development. OSU Extension's county websites are easy to find.
