WNKU Concert Series in the Ballroom at the Taft
Deep within the catacombs of the historic Taft Theatre lies a cavernous ballroom, heretofore unseen by the average theater-goer. Until this year, most people weren't even aware such a room existed (rumor has it there is even a shooting range just behind one of the doors within the ballroom).
In fact, WNKU had been one of the very outside organizations to utilize the room on a regular basis. The Ballroom at the Taft has been the site of our "Wine Me, Dine Me, Over the Rhine Me" fundraising dinner for several years, but little else took place in there....until now.
This year, Music & Events Management, Inc. - the event management subsidiary of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra that oversaw last year's $3 million renovation of the Taft and currently manages the building - brought the ballroom to the proverbial surface by sprucing up the space and adding a stage with sound and lighting. Appropriately, the space is billed as the Ballroom at the Taft.
It is not lost on us that the Ballroom is already filling a void left behind by the closing of the Southgate House at the end of last year. We at WNKU have been thrilled to see acts like Great Lake Swimmers, Dawes, and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers play the new space. So thrilled, in fact, that we've partnered with the Taft to welcome the WNKU Concert Series in the Ballroom at the Taft.
Coming up next in the series...
Saturday, July 21st: Sons of Bill
Tuesday, July 24th: Blitzen Trapper
Thursday, July 26th: Band of Heathens
