Veteran Kentucky Politician Dies
Gatewood Galbraith, the Lexington attorney, perennial candidate for office in Kentucky and 2011 gubernatorial candidate, has died. That's the word from Dea Riley, Galbraith's running mate in last November's election.
According to the Associated Press, Riley says Galbraith died Tuesday. Galbraith's most recent independent run for governor was his fifth attempt. He came in third behind incumbent Democrat Steve Beshear and Republican Dave Williams. Riley says the state has lost a treasure. The 64-year-old Galbraith, whose one-liners even on serious issues often drew chuckles from audiences, told an AP reporter in September that he would die smiling.
