New 911 Fee for Kenton County

With fewer people using landlines each year, 911 dispatch centers around the country are seeking new ways to fund their operation. Traditionally, a service fee is added to residents' landline phone bill to cover their 911 service. Kenton County has found a more efficient way to charge their residents with the fee added to energy bills.

Duke Energy is challenging Kenton County over the new charge. A second reading will be held on July 24th.
