Jake Speed & the Freddies and The Turkeys play tonight's Tunes & Blooms at the Cincinnati Zoo

Apr 26, 2012

Tunes & Blooms truly is the place to be Thursday night's in April.  Last week, we set a new attendance record at Tunes & Blooms with The Tillers and Shiny & the Spoon.  Over 4300 people came through the gates of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens to soak up the beautiful weather and hear some of the best local talent our region has to offer.  Tonight will be no different as we welcome back perennial favorites Jake Speed & the Freddies and The Turkeys for the series finale.

The Turkeys will take the stage at 6pm.  The Turkeys are a Folk-Rock band from Covington, KY featuring Simon & Garfunkelesque harmonies.  Expect hints of Country, humorous Indie Rock and much more.

Jake Speed & the Freddies will go on around 7:30.  For the past eight years, Jake Speed has hitchhiked down Cincinnati's American folk, bluegrass, and ragtime music highway with his award-winning band, The Freddies. Their traditional and original songs leap right out of Depression-era freight trains and right into Ohio River steamboats. Their near-vaudeville style stage shows and quick-witted charisma rope in loyal fans of new and old generations alike.

Pack a picnic dinner or hit up one of the Zoo's concession areas.  The Zoo provides plenty of excellent food (including veggie burgers and mac and cheese!) and beverage options.  They even serve quality local beer.

Of course, you can always pack a picnic dinner.  Chairs and blankets are welcome, as well.

Round up the kids, call a few friends, and meet us at the Zoo tonight for the series finale of Tunes & Blooms!
