Earth Calendar for November 11th and November 12th

Clermont County agricultural agencies are inviting local landowners and farmers to an informational breakfast meeting on Thursday, November 14th from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the Clermont Agricultural Service Center located at 1000 Locust Street (Clermont Co. Fairgrounds) in Owensville.


 At the meeting, participants will learn about local agricultural programs and the types of technical assistance available to farmers and land owners in Clermont County.The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Clermont Farm Service Agency (FSA), Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and OSU Extension will be on hand to discuss how their programs can help support local farmers. The programs are voluntary and designed to support agriculture and environmental quality as compatible goals. .NRCS is accepting applications through November 15th for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), a program that helps farmers install conservation practices. FSA also offers some financial assistance programs, while SWCD and OSU Extension focus on providing education and technical assistance on a range of agricultural issues, including soil erosion and fertilizer/pesticide applications. On Our Calendar: Share in the secrets of the nocturnal world at An Enchanted Night Hike at Woodland Mound on Saturday, November 16th.  The creatures that call the darkness home might not be as familiar as those seen in the daytime, yet they all have their own sounds and stories. Guides will lead families on a one-mile, lantern-lit hike, stopping several times along the way to meet different woodland creatures of the night. Afterwards, warm up with hot cocoa and marshmallows around the fire. Hikes begin at 7:00 pm and registration is requested by Thursday, November 14th at the website  or by calling 513-521-7275, ext. 240.
