Earth Calendar for May 20th and May 21st
Discover the fascinating world of wildlife!
Kenton County Parks & Recreation presents the 14th season of weekly Wild Wednesday programs through August 14th. The free programs begin at 10:00 am, last about an hour and are held ~ rain or shine ~ at Middleton-Mills Park in Shelterhouse 2.
Wild Wednesdays! is for everyone! It's not just schools and school-age kids who are enjoying the programs. It's all ages, from babies to seniors! Learn simple definitions for big words such as biodiversity, endangered, conservation, preservation, adaptation, ecosystem, indigenous, extinction, specialization, and interdependence. Arrive early for best seating! Wild Wednesdays! is free to attend and enjoy. Instead of money, Kenton County Parks & Recreation collect donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for Senior Services of NKY. This year, in an effort to bump up the donations, there will be a special prize drawing each week for those who remember to bring donations. For more information, directions to Middleton Mills Park and a full line-up of this summer’s programs visit the website or call (859) 525-PLAY.
On Our Calendar: As the heat of summer sinks in, gardeners spend a little more time in the shade, often to find this is the least interesting part of their yard. The Civic Garden Center is offering a class that will help you assess the conditions of your shady site and choose plants accordingly. Different shade perennials and shrubs will be presented along with their cultural needs and factors such as pest and deer resistance. Wednesday, June 5th 6:00 pm. For additional information and registration please visit the website.
