Earth Calendar for March 6th and March 7th

The Center for Green Schools is looking for an exceptional K-12 school in any part of the world to be the 2013 Greenest School on Earth.

The Greenest School on Earth recognition is an annual announcement made by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, highlighting a K-12 school that exemplifies how sustainability can be integrated into what and where students learn.

K-12 schools applying for the Greenest School on Earth recognition must demonstrate strong examples of school efforts in the following three categories:

1. Efficient use of resources and reduced environmental impact

2. Enhanced occupant health and learning

3. Emphasis on sustainability and resource-conservation education

The Center is accepting nominations for the Greenest School on Earth through April 1st. An international panel of distinguished judges will select the 2013 recipient. The 2013 Greenest School on Earth recipient will receive a $5,000 grant to initiate or enhance a school sustainability program. The Center will highlight the winning school on the Center’s website through social media in an international press release. Additionally, a member of the Center for Green Schools team will make the official presentation of the award on site at the winning school in May. For more information visit the website.
