Earth Calendar for March 10th and March 11th

Mar 10, 2014

Every week is poison prevention week, but the third week of March each year is designated as National Poison Prevention Week. This year National Poison Prevention Week is March 16th through March 22nd.

More than 2 million poisonings are reported each year to the 57 poison control centers across the country. More than 90 percent of these poisonings occur in the home. The majority of non-fatal poisonings occur in children younger than six years old. And, poisonings are one of the leading causes of death among adults.  Poison Prevention Week is intended to raise awareness of the dangers of unintentional poisonings and to promote poison prevention efforts.

The United Stated Health and Human Services offers The National Poison Prevention Week Planner that will help you plan and implement activities to raise awareness of poison prevention online. Learn how to promote poison prevention in your classroom, organization or community at
