River Sweep, sponsored by the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) and Foundation for Ohio River Education (FORE), is an annual river bank cleanup for the Ohio River and its tributaries.

Throughout the years, this nationally recognized event has grown into one the largest cleanup efforts of its kind, encompassing 1,962 miles of shoreline from Pittsburgh, PA to Cairo, IL. More than 21,000 volunteers in six states bordering the river come together to collect trash and other debris from the banks of the Ohio River. River Sweep 2013 is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th, 10:00 a.m. and volunteers are needed for the location at Pendery Park, Route 8 near Melbourne, Ky. Registration is requested but not required. Questions or to register call the Campbell County Extension Service at 859-572-2600 or visit the website.
