Earth Calendar for June 4th and June 5th

Jun 4, 2014

Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty, meeting new people and working outside? Then Grailville has the perfect day for you!

Join in for a fun filled day outside with the community Saturday, July 12th, 9:00 am – Noon. As stewards of 315 acres, Grailville relies on a community of volunteers to help us maintain a beautiful, accessible, and mindful space. The Grailville Volunteer Day is ideal for families who want to spend together-time, students and youth groups needing service projects hours and businesses that support employee volunteering. Meet at the Grailville Gazebo, rain or shine, prepared to work on maintenance, grounds and trail projects. No experience necessary and all are welcome.

From 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Grailville will present Snakes Alive using recycled materials, textures, wild lines and bright colors. Visionaries + Voices artist Kevin White will lead this hands-on workshop that takes information about snakes (movement, color, texture) and transforms it into art. Painted on recycled campaign signs, each participant will create a piece that will be displayed as a temporary outdoor installation along the South Trail at Grailville. What a wonderful day for community and experiential art. More information and registration for both events online.

On Our calendar: U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, June 8th, at the Union Township Civic Center Amphitheater. The event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America in conjunction with Clermont County Veterans' Service Commission and Steve Tam. Any citizen who has worn or torn American flags can drop them off at the Veterans' Service Commission office, 3rd floor, 76 South Riverside Drive, Batavia. The flags will be disposed of properly and burned with the help of the Boy Scouts of Union Township. The public is invited to attend. For more information contact the Veterans' Service Commission at 513-732-7377.
