It’s National Fishing and Boating Week! Get tips to make the most of the week & find places to fish & boat in KY.

June 1st through 8th is National Fishing and Boating Week, the perfect chance to enjoy nice weather and connect with nature. In 2013, 1.7 million people enjoyed fish and wildlife-related recreation in Kentucky. Many states offer free fishing days during Fishing and Boating Week. Make the most of Fishing and Boating Week with tips to stay safe and healthy. Be prepared for all kinds of weather. Check your local forecast and bring a jacket or sweater for cool mornings and evenings. Bring rain gear along, too. Protect your skin. Water reflects sunlight, which can increase the amount of UV reaching your skin. Wear sunscreen and lightweight, light-colored clothing. Cover your head and your toes. Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare, and sturdy shoes to protect your feet from sharp rocks. If you are in a boat, wear shoes that will prevent slipping. Take care of the environment. Make sure our waters and wildlife are available for others to enjoy in the future with smart fishing and boating practices.  Online you will find further information about getting a fishing license and finding family-friendly fishing spots in Kentucky.
