Earth Calendar for June 26th and June 27th

The Boone County Farm Initiative is hosting the second Rural Treasures Farm Tour on Saturday, June 29th from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. This self-guided tour offers visitors a chance to learn more about agriculture in Boone County. There will be food, beverages, farm produce and crafts available for purchase at many of the farms.

Organizers envision the tour as a way to promote the diversity and value of Boone County’s agriculture. An outcome of the recently completed farm study, the tour is one way to show the economic, environmental and cultural values of agriculture to Boone County. It also provides a fun way for people to learn about the county’s diverse agricultural operations and how their food and fiber is produced. Last year’s tour attracted over 2,200 visitors. For more information, contact the Boone County Extension Service at (859) 586-6101, or the Boone County Conservation District at 859-586-7903. Or visit BooneCountyFarmTour.org to learn more about all of the farms and download a brochure with a map to plan your adventure.
