Earth Calendar for June 12th and June 13th
With over 5,000 children expected to participate this year, the Kids Expo has become the largest outdoor water safety and environmental education program for kids in the Midwest. The Expo is a unique opportunity to enhance the interest of children in the outdoor world while promoting their academic achievement in science, technology, math and engineering. With interactive stations and hands-on activities, the event is designed to engage, educate and entertain while helping children learn what they can do to protect and enjoy the environment. The Kid’s Outdoor Adventure Expo will offer two sessions: (Morning Session) 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and (Afternoon Session) 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Each session features dozens of hands-on activities, exhibits and presentations to engage children’s interest in the natural world around them. This year, Kid’s Expo will be organized into four separate villages. These Villages will each have their own unique outdoor adventure inspired theme, and are appropriately named "Let’s Move!", "Let’s Explore!", Let’s Splash!" and "Let’s Be Green!". On Our Calendar: Join an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist on a Nature Hike through the grounds at Fort Ancient. The 2 hour program will include walking approximately 1 to 1.5 miles through the 2,000 year old prehistoric earthworks. Guests will learn how to identify early summer birds, plants and insects, taking pictures along the way. It is a good way for kids and beginners of all ages to learn how to identify some of the common birds in Warren County. Saturday, June 15th, 2:00 pm.
