Earth Calendar for July 2nd and July 3rd
The July 4th holiday is typically one of the busiest times for the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center as many pets become frightened by fireworks and, often times, run away.
This year, pet owners can see hourly updates on lost pets at the ARC by visiting www.petharbor.com.
In addition, the ARC is offering some important tips to keep your pet safe this time of year:Please resist the urge to take your pets with you to celebrate Independence Day. Public fireworks displays can be frightening to your pets. Let them stay home in a quiet, safe, escape-proof area. For pets bothered by loud noises, keep them inside in a quiet room with no windows. Background music can help calm them. Picnic foods can be tempting to our pets but can cause intestinal problems. Things like chocolate, onions, grapes, raisins, salt and yeast dough can all be toxic to pets. Make sure your pets always wear collars with current licenses tags and pet identification. Lost and scared pets can’t tell a person where they live unless they have proper ID. If your pet is lost or you find a stray, call the Ohio Montgomery County Animal Resource Center at (937)898-4457 and select option #1.
On Our Calendar: Join the Clermont County Park District and staff from the Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District for a guided tour of the newly renovated Shor Park. The recently completed renovations include; habitat improvements, wetland restoration, a rain garden, and interpretive signage. The project was a collaborative effort between the Park District and the Clermont SWCD to demonstrate how to minimize water pollution and the effects of storm water runoff. Registration is required for this July 9th program online.
