Earth Calendar for July 18th and July 19th
Picking Up The Pieces is an ongoing effort to improve our communities. This is a campaign encouraging participants to make the attempt to pick up three pieces of litter every day-anyplace, anytime and anywhere!
The goal of this multifaceted venture is to develop community wide habits that will positively impact everyone and our environment.
There are currently more than 2600 participants in this campaign hailing from 47 states and nine countries outside of the United States.
The project hopes to partner with businesses interested in supporting this effort. To do so, you can:
(1) LIKE and SHARE the Picking Up The Pieces Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pickingupthepiecesproject. By liking this page you are pledging to make the effort to pick up three pieces of litter a day.
(2) Follow the pickingupthepieces Twitter feed @piecesproject
(3) Sign up as a participant on the website
(4) Encourage customers, employees and friends to participate
Please take this small yet important step in assuming personal responsibility for improving your community. Three pieces a day: anyplace, anytime, anywhere!
On Our Calendar: The Shaker Trace Nursery, located in the Miami Whitewater Forest, is hosting a Public Open House Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This free event will include guided tours of the 51-acre nursery, a meet-and-greet with nursery staff and volunteers, and light refreshments. You will see firsthand where native seeds are grown, harvested, processed, and stored and learn about other natural resources stewardship activities. Visitors will also get a chance to check out one of the aquaculture ponds, which are used to raise hybrid bluegill that can be seen in the Great Parks' fishing lakes! More information online.
