Earth Calendar for August 8th and August 9th

Aug 9, 2014

The annual White River Festival, a two-week long celebration of the White River and the area’s land, wildlife, plants, streams and people, occurs September 1st through September 14th.

The celebration includes multiple events at venues and locations throughout central Indiana. Highlighting the 2014 festival theme of “recreation,” the community can plan to fish, walk, run, paddle and more as part of activities that incorporate everything from art and science to service and entertainment.

The festival offers several events over a two-week period allowing for a diversity of events for a variety of audiences. The goal is to bring people to the river and give them an opportunity to enjoy its beauty, experience its recreational potential, see the wildlife that inhabits it, and understand its critical role as a drinking water source for Central Indiana. The Alliance hopes that by creating more buzz about the White River, more citizens will become actively involved in its protection, whether through formal efforts or small, daily changes made at home.
Each day of the festival, multiple venues and locations welcome the public with a range of events and activities. Throughout the two weeks, the diversity among venues and events create a dynamic collage that offers something for everyone. For information on all event locations, visit the website.
