Earth Calendar for April 27th and 28th
This spring, Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve will become a work of art with colorfully decorated pots hanging from the trees. Painted Pots Week is a fun opportunity for kids and adults to show their creativity and celebrate spring. Clay planting pots will be available for painting and decorating on the front porch of the Nature's Niche Gifts and Books store. Visitors are encouraged to leave their pots when they are finished, which will be hung from the trees throughout the park. Blooming Fun Weekend kicks off with a chance to pick a hanging pot and plant a wildflower in it. The will also be other activities like tie dying, takeing a wildflower hike, music, decorating a flower cookie and more. Painted Pots Week runs through Friday, May 4th from 110:00 am - 4:00 pm. The event leads to Blooming Fun Weekend on Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. For more information visit Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve's website or call (513) 521-7275.

On Wednesday, May 9th at 7:00 pm the Cincinnati Zoo will be host a lecture by University of California professor of anthropology, Dr. Shirley Strum. Dr. Strum has studied baboons in Kenya from more than 40 years and her long term research has revealed how they use intelligence, mental flexibility and social skills to navigate a complex world. Dr. Strum will explain how understanding baboon behavior helped create innovative conservation and management techniques.
