Church Historian Discusses Pope Benedict XVI's Resignation

Pope Benedict XVI’s announcement that he would resign February 28th was unexpected and shocking news to many Catholics.The 85 year old is the first pontiff in nearly 600 years to step down from the office. He cited advanced age and diminishing strength as reasons for his decision.
