Buckle Up for Buckle Up
Anyone who went down to Bunbury Music Festival on Cincinnati's riverfront this past weekend knows that a lot of work must have gone into setting up those six (count 'em...six) stages, dozens of vendor booths, beer trucks, tents and trailers, fencing, and everything else you wouldn't normally find at Sawyer Point or Yeatman's Cove on a typical weekend. In fact, so much went into the set up for Bunbury, that the organizers decided they really didn't want to take it all back down after just three days. So, what do they do? Simple. Put on another festival.
This weekend welcomes the inaugural Buckle Up Music Festival - three days of American music including country, bluegrass, folk, roots rock, and our favorite, Americana. For more on what Americana music is and what it means to WNKU and Buckle Up, in particular, check out this article in the Enquirer. Nearly 80 acts will perform on six stages, and while Friday and Sunday are geared a little more towards modern commercial country, Saturday reads like a WNKU playlist.
We'll be down there Friday and Saturday from 3p - 6p as John Patrick broadcasts live on site. Come on down and see us. John's been working on lining up interviews with Emmylou Harris, Drive By Truckers, Sturgill Simpson, Joe Pug, Amanda Shires, Jeremy Pinnell, The Tillers, and more. You never know who might stop by the WNKU booth this weekend! And if that's not enough, we'll also be giving away some great prizes.
