Beshear Signs Order to Stop Insurance Cancellation in Tornado Affected Counties
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has signed an executive order that bans insurance companies from cancelling policies or changing rates in the 21 counties that have been declared federal disaster areas as a result of the recent tornadoes and severe storms. The order says all coverage in those counties will continue without cancellation or non-renewal until April 15. In addition, any insurance rate hikes that were scheduled to take effect February 29 or later will be deferred until April 15. The governor's office says this is the first time an executive order of this kind has ever been issued in Kentucky.
