Ben Knight was born in the coal fields of Webster County, KY. He grew up listening to Americana and outlaw country with his father and Motown and soul with his mother, which he cites as important musical influences. Knight began performing live in 2008 while attending the University of Louisville, playing solo open mic nights and coffee shop gigs. He continued playing these venues and pleasing small audiences until 2010.

Knight then made the move to Cincinnati where he made his rounds through the local open mic scene before teaming up with Elia Burkhart (upright bass) and Jeremy Smart (lead guitar) in January of 2013. The trio formed the group The Welldiggers and released their debut record, Divining Rod, on September 13th, 2013. Ben Knight has gained a reputation as a skillful songwriter and excellent performer. Although he has lived in the Kentucky region his whole life, his music has the potential to take him quite a few places.

Join us next Monday at 7:00pm when Ben Knight & The Welldiggers perform at Studio 89.
