John Patrick

Host / Music Director

I was born and raised in Peru, Indiana, along with musician Cole Porter and basketball player Kyle Macy, but not at the same time. They were a bit older. Cole’s niece was in love with me in the 1st grade. Little did I know, she was one of the heirs to his publishing fortune, or I might have shown more interest. Hind sight is 20/20, especially in the 1st grade.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school and today I’m still not sure. I started in radio in Peru, right out of high school in 1983. I spent most of the late '80s and early '90s in the world’s greatest college town, Bloomington, Indiana, which has an incredible local music scene. I was Music Director at WTTS during this time, back when they were a great new Triple A station.

I’ve done just about every job in radio, even Sales and Management, which are ok, but being able to play great music every day is best. I think it’s safe to say that no one has had more luck or more fun than me.

There’s always more than one great song on a album!

Thanks for listening to WNKU.

Ivan and Alyosha In The WNKU Studio

May 25, 2013

Ivan and Alyosha stopped by the WNKU studios in May 2013 to talk to John Patrick about their music and more! Listen here!

Col. Bruce Hampton joined John Patrick in the studio on May 23, 2013. Listen to the interview (and perhaps a song or two!) here in case you missed!

Well, it's happened again.  WNKU's Music Director and Afternoon Music host, John Patrick, met Johnny Law.   He fought the law and well, you know how the rest of it goes.  At least it's for a good cause this time.

The CD of the Month for April, comes to you from J.J. Grey & Mofro. It's titled This River.

JJ Grey & Mofro will release THIS RIVER on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. This is Grey's seventh album and his first studio album since 2010's acclaimed Georgia Warhorse.
