Aaron Sharpe

Director of Development & Marketing

Aaron first volunteered with WNKU as a student in Northern Kentucky University’s Radio/Television program in 1998.  His first “job” was soliciting food from area restaurants for the fund drive, and although he always just wanted to be a DJ, the station manager at the time took note of Aaron’s ability to ask for things and thus offered him a paying job in Development in 1999.

Aaron had to go outside of radio to fulfill his dream of being a DJ.  During baseball season, he spends his evenings and weekends as the DJ for the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

Aaron has also worked dozens of freelance gigs in broadcast television, mostly as an audio engineer or assistant.  He’s worked on productions of everything from high school basketball tournaments to a TBS reality show to Super Bowl XLVI.

When things slow down, Aaron will pick up a little work here and there as a voice actor, voicing anything from corporate training videos to national TV and radio spots.  Aaron has even had the privilege of filling in as the public address announcer for the Cincinnati Reds when needed.

Despite it all, WNKU remains closest to Aaron’s heart.  And while they still won’t let him on the air except to ask for money, he thinks it’s pretty cool that he gets to work with real rock ‘n roll DJ’s.

Ways To Connect

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since we first partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo to bring you Tunes & Blooms.  What started out as a one-time concert in the cold rain before a crowd of about 100 people, now regularly draws close to 5000 people every week.  It really is the place to be every Thursday night in April.  Tunes & Blooms features some of the best musical acts our region has to offer playing amongst the tulips of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Each week, the Zoo dispenses with the usual admission fee at 5pm allowing visitors to roam the animal exhibits for free before settling down to enjoy live music from 6p to 8p.  Bring a picnic or choose from the excellent food options available on site.  They even serve local craft beer at the Zoo.

WNKU Welcomes Wilco with special guest, Steve Gunn, to the Taft Theatre on Tuesday, May 5th as part of our 30th anniversary concert series, and we’ve just scored orchestra level tickets from the band!

The boys in Wilco heard we were a little short of our goal for the Spring Fund Drive and wanted to lend us a hand.  So, they've given us these orchestra level tickets to pass on to you as thanks for your contribution of $360 or more on a credit card to WNKU.

Donate $360 now and select "Premium Tickets to see Wilco" as your thank you gift, or call 1-855-897-1059.  But hurry. There are only a few pair of these tickets available and they'll go in a hurry.

We're so close to meeting our goal for the Spring Fund Drive! To help get us over the top, some good friends of WNKU are lending a hand in the form of a dollar for dollar match.  Dr. Stephen Billman of Cincinnati, The Levin Family Foundation of Dayton, and Tom and Karen Kruer-Zershusen have offered to donate an additional $4000 to WNKU if we can raise $4000 by 9am.  That means your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $4000 by supporters throughout our listening area!  Talk about community support!

Get in on this match by making your donation right now. Call 1-855-897-1059 or donate online.

We had hoped to end the Spring Fund Drive on Saturday, but we're still shy of our overall goal, and it's very important that we make it.   All it takes to get us there is you making your contribution right now if you've not done so already.  If you have, thank you!  If you've just not gotten around to it, the time is now.

Don't put off great music any longer.  Be a part of making the music happen with your donation today.

Call 1-855-897-1059 or use our secure online donation form.  You can use the same form to view the great thank you gifts available for you to choose from when you support WNKU.

If we can raise $5000 by 9am we will receive an additional $5000 from The Thie Foundation and be able to present the Friday Morning Request Show with no fundraising interruptions.

The William Howard Thie Foundation is a major supporter of WNKU and other music arts organizations, such as The Blues Foundation.  Today, they are encouraging you to join them in support of WNKU by offering to match all gifts up to a total of $5,000.

If you've recently given, thank you.  If not, now is the best time to support great music with a donation to WNKU.
